Volcanic Area Rosiana. Telde. Gran Canaria

The route begins in the Lomo de La Palma, in front of Lomo Magullo south, 100 meters before the last curve of the GC-130, Telde, climbing to the summit before meeting the Lomo Magullo deviation. Perpendicular to this road comes a little road between two houses and continues up the hill until it begins to fall gently along a wide dirt road. We continue between dry stone walls of ancient eruptions, the landscape begins to fill with green.

Suddenly a stone monoliths on the horizon after passing any farms: this is the Lomo de las Piedras, remains of the eruption of Holiness, a perfect horseshoe-shaped volcano, now use as a 'piconera', place where get it materials, who walked swept by lava beneath our feet to the east. On the left side a concrete road with rocks, we follow it until it ends in Rosiana, we turn to the right and little later we find the village of the same name.

We continued along the dirt road straight, appears before our eyes the Barrancode Silva, as a vertical cut through the gently rolling shaped by volcanoes. From left to right we see the profile south of the Caderetilla, um wide plain and up the Triguerillas.


We descended the slope, we passed the entrance to the piconera where a groveof 'olive trees' with the Houses of Cortijo on the hill.

Leaving a hole on the left at the dirt track that follows the course of the Barrancode Silva and climb right at the level we saw before from Rosiana. In this gorgethere are many archaeological remains such as the Ravens chalasia or Jerezcomplex, leading to four gateways.

Advanced through the plain up to the Gamonal where the dragon, some of themcenturies old. This is the end of our route.

The proposed route is gentle and suitable for the whole family, on foot, by bicycle or horse. We encourage at the same visit we are in the caves of the Barranco de Silva or get as close to see the Lomo de las Piedras, ascending to the crater and seeing the cast superimposed over older material like a river of lava.
