Weather Experience...

A curiosity that only happens in Islas Canarias is the presence of microclimates into the islands. Because of the altitude and the flow of trade winds 'Alisios', the clouds hit the mountains of the north side. If brimming over these mountains there is aphenomenon called Foehn effect ...

The most interesting is that on one side of the island can be raining while in  another the temperature exceeds 20 degrees and you can wear your swimsuit and swim in the Atlantic Ocean.

That was we found in La Palma last year after passing the known as the time tunnel. On the north face the day was dreary, cloudy, rainy, ... Passing through the tunnel: a good day, light, sun, ...

Only here ... Islas Canarias.

Barranco de los Cernícalos. Feel it!

El Barranco de los Cernícalos born in La Caldera de Los Marteles, 1500 m altitude and flows along with Barranco de La Breña in the Barranco de San Miguel, which continues to meet with the Royal Barranco Telde. This east-northeast, having a very sharp V profile, bridging a gap of more than 1000 meters.

From its bed year-round water flows out of the galleries dug into the rock by menbelonging to the Homestead Valley Water of The Nine, founded in 1501. Thanksto it contains one of the jewels of the botanical Canary, a gallery forest saos(Canary willow), which is the best preserved of the Canaries, along with increasedAcebuchal of Gran Canaria. Furthermore, in the gorge we see different levels of vegetation, from pine, broom and gorse at the summit to the cacti, tabaibas,salvias, and verodes balos the lowest level. In the middle are tajinastes, orobales,white broom, bicacareras, houseleeks, the ivy vine hanging from Tank Gaugesaos reaching 20 meters, watercress, taracontilla, coriander, ... in a microclimate of moisture where it costs to enter the sun's rays to a carpetlittered with leaves. We find, of course, kestrels, with asparagus, canaries, 'linaceros', doves, 'alpispas', owls, hawks, lots of insects and lizards.

Los Cernícalos,  runs sandwiched between basaltic rocks Roque cycle Nublo eruptions cones dotted recent Rosiana Volcano Area, jumping waterfalls water prices which can reach over 10 meters.
